True Blood

When the Sunday series “True Blood” comes on HBO I never skip the credits.

I’ve seen them more than a dozen times I think but it doesn’t matter because the sequence of visuals and how they’re put together are brilliant.

The director and editor in me could watch it all day.

The sequence was created by Digital Kitchen, the visual house behind creator Alan Ball’s other HBO series “Six Feet Under”.

And over on “The Art of the Title Sequence” they compare the True Blood sequence

with another opening for a film called “Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus”.

Fascinating. You can really see how maybe “Wrong-eyed” inspired the “True Blood” sequence.

By the way, the southern American visuals full of earth and spirit are also inspiring me as I write the next draft of my feature script, “The American People”.

This is interesting stuff, no? check out the “True Blood” sequence for yourself below and tell me what you think.
